Nolwenn Languille, artiste peintre et illustratrice installée en Bretagne.

Born in Brest, I spent much of my childhood in the Nantes region. Passionate about drawing from an early age, I was rarely seen without a pencil in hand!

Enfance et formation artistique

A little later, I began studying sculpture in René Robin's workshop at the Moulin Gautron in Vertou, near Nantes, where I created figures and a few nude studies. It was a formative period, rich in artistic growth.

Eager to start a fulfilling career, I turned to a technical training program in "drafting for execution and graphic communication," also near Nantes—a course designed to lead toward careers in advertising. It was there that I explored a range of techniques: pencil, charcoal, red chalk, felt-tip pen, gouache, acrylic…

Nolwenn Languille s’intalle dans le Morbihan

As a young adult, I left Nantes to settle in Vannes, in the Morbihan region, and I never left this Brittany that feeds both my need for escape and my creativity. In love with nature, and drawn more to a career as an artist than to the world of advertising, I began sketching my surroundings—birds in particular—through my work as a nature guide. I created and exhibited many naturalist drawings and paintings.

In 1995, I won First Prize for Drawing at the Palais des Arts in Vannes.

À 27 ans, souhaitant étoffer mon cursus, je passe mon diplôme d’études universitaires générales (D.E.U.G) option arts plastiques à Paris I. Je poursuis mes études en première année de licence, interrompues par la maternité.

L’illustration jeunesse

Depuis lors, je me consacre pleinement à la peinture mais également à l’illustration, avec des collaborations pour différents ouvrages dans un premier temps. Inspirée par ma Bretagne natale et l’envie d’apporter une touche de rêverie, j’invite les lecteurs à suivre les aventures d’Éline et Tomis dans une atmosphère de légendes, de fées et de farfadets ! Je co-signe avec Patrice Manic plusieurs ouvrages.

With a love of sharing my craft, I also teach drawing classes for the Baden art and music association.

La peinture aujourd’hui

Painting—and oil painting in particular—makes up a significant part of my work, which moves between abstract and figurative art. Constantly evolving, I never stop exploring new directions. I paint many landscapes, some inspired by reality, others entirely imagined. Realism is often, and deliberately, transcended. At times, human figures make their way into the illustrations. A sense of introspection is often present in my paintings.
